The NPP’s 2023 Super delegates conference wouldn’t go down without a spectacle of drama as is popular with elections in Ghana.
A video circulating on social media is revealing what could be termed as the first spectacle of drama as Member of Parliament for Assin Central and Flagbearer Aspirant for the New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Agyapong is seen and heard issuing threats to President Akuffo-Addo and Vice-President Dr. Bawumia.
According to Mr. Kennedy Agyapong, he will give the president and his vice who is also contesting the flagbearer race a showdown in this country for the reason that his party agent at the University of Cape Coast elections center has been chased out into hiding in a room.
A total number of 10 party members have filed to contest for the position of Flagbearer in the 2024 elections.
Per the party’s constitution if it happens that more than five persons file to contest for the Flagbearer position, a super delegates conference made up of selected high-ranking members of the party should be conducted to sieve the number of contestants to five, through the ballot.
Former Trades and industries Minister, Alan Kyerematen, former Agriculture Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Former Railways Minister, Joe Ghartey, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, former party General Secretary; Kwadwo Poku, former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko, former Trade Minister, Kofi Konadu Apraku, former Member of Parliament for Mampong Francis Addai Nimoh, and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, are the ten contestants who are battling for the prestigious position to lead the party into the 2024 general Elections.
A total of 900 delegates are expected to participate in the super delegates conference.
